About Valerie Faneco

valerie"I have been a yoga student since 1994, a full-time teacher since 2000. My family moved to Singapore in 2004; it is now our permanent home.

After completing a basic yoga teaching certificate in 2000, I became hungry for more. I met Sir TKV Desikachar at a seminar in Australia, and following his advice continued my yoga studies with Frans Moors (one of his senior students), who is now my mentor.

In 2005, I completed a four-year professional yoga diploma. Once a year I go back to Chennai to study at the KYM and attend seminars with TKV Desikachar and his son Kausthub. My strongest personal interest is certainly the study of the Yoga-Sutra, as well as Vedic chanting which I practice almost daily".

Valerie teaches the classical yoga of Patanjali in the authentic lineage of T Krishnamacharya, mostly in private classes.

In 2008 and 2011 Valerie was on the teaching faculty of the annual KHYF Global Yoga Summit in Austria, alongside TKV Desikachar, Kausthub Desikachar and other senior teachers.

She is an accredited Teacher and Teacher Trainer for the Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation (KHYF), a global organization founded by TKV Desikachar. Her trainings are also certified by the European Yoga Union (UEY) and the U.S. Yoga Alliance.

She gives regular lectures on yoga as a holistic healing method and was featured in health segments on the Discovery Home and Health channel.

Valerie is now running South East Asia's only KHYF Yoga Teacher Training Course, in Singapore, for two and a half years from 2010 to December 2012.

In her spare time, she keeps herself entertained with a new pet project: the translation of Frans Moors' Yoga-Sutra commentary from French to English, to be published in 2012...
